Nearly twenty-five thousand households in south-east Queensland found themselves without power on Monday morning after powerful weather events swept through the area, generating powerful gusts reaching over 100 km/h.

Substantial Frozen Precipitation and Widespread Damage

Homeowners observed large ice chunks measuring up to 7 centimeters in particular locations. Meteorological experts verified that different parts across Queensland had been affected by large hailstones.

Response teams were working to restore power throughout the affected regions, with nearly 70 crews activated to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.

Southern State's Climate Difficulties

At the same time, around 1,000 energy customers in Victoria also faced energy failures after the metropolitan area recorded its most precipitation in over 500 days.

Rescue organizations received nearly 600 calls for help across the area, mostly for building damage but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

At one point on Sunday, more than twenty-eight thousand electricity consumers in Victoria were lacking electricity.

Humid circumstances were predicted to continue along much of Queensland's east this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.

Tomorrow was forecast to be the most rainy day, with continued thunderstorm potential anticipated across various areas of both regions.

Medical Alert

Health officials cautioned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the current weather patterns.
